Winemaker’s Notes

Established in 1893, Leasingham has been an integral part of the Clare Valley for over 100 years. Today, we select only our most outstanding wines for release under the premium Classic Clare label. Consistent show success rewards the depth and integrity of these distinctly regional wines.

2012 was an Ideal vintage for Riesling. Cool conditions throughout summer with adequate rainfalls, followed by a cool and dry harvest period produced fruit with great aroma and acid retention.

It was an outstanding year for Riesling from the Clare Valley with intense fruit flavour being evident in the berries early on, and this was transferred to the subsequent wine.

2012 Classic Clare Riesling is an intense and powerful Clare Valley Riesling from a great year. Bottle aging for five years before release transforms fresh lemon and floral Riesling aromatics into a complex wine of limes and brioche, with minerality and line. More richness and complexity will accumulate with further cellaring.
